Combine Harvester...Top song the day I was born...

This really shouldn't surprise me. :) Now this song is stuck in my head...

COMBINE HARVESTER (BRAND NEW KEY)
12/06/1976 - 2 weeks at #1 - 13 weeks on chart

I drove my tractor through your haystack last night
(ooh aah ooh aah)
I threw me pitchfork at your dog to keep quiet
(ooh aah ooh aah)
Now something's telling me
That you'm avoiding me
Come on now darling you've got something I need

Cuz I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key
Come on now let's get together
In perfect harmony
I got twenty acres
An' you got forty-three
Now I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key

She made I laugh ha ha

I'll stick by you, I'll give you all that you need
We'll 'ave twins and triplets
I'm a man built for speed
And you know I'll love you darlin'
So give me your hand
But what I want the most
Is all they acres of land

Cuz I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key
Come on now let's get together
In perfect harmony
I got twenty acres
An' you got forty-three
Now I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key

Ooaah she's a lovely bit of stuff an' all

For seven long years I've been alone in this place
Eat, sleep, in the kitchen, it's a proper disgrace
Now if I cleaned it up would you change your mind
I'll give up drinking scrumpy and that lager and lime

Cuz I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key
Come on now let's get together
In perfect harmony
I got twenty acres
An' you got forty-three
Now I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key

Who loves ya baby ha

Weren't we a grand couple at that last wurzel dance
I wore brand new gaters and me cordouroy pants
In your new Sunday dress with your perfume smelling grand
We had our photos took and us holding hands

Now I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key
Now that we'me both past our fifties I think that you and me
Should stop this galavanting and will you marry me
Coz I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key

Aahh yu're a fine looking woman and I can't wait to get me 'ands on your land

Babies

Yes there are three in there... :)

Vashtie's  three...

The three surviving quints...

Lydia the first born of the quints...

Updates from Goatland...

It's been an eventful past few days. It's started Sunday morning with the kidding of Vivian with two handsome little bucklings. One with ears the other the elf ears of the La Mancha. SO cute...

Monday dawned with the kidding of Lightening and Suzanna. S. had one HUGE buck, of whom needed to be pulled since he was HUGE and the one front leg was back. Both are doing well.

Lightening on the other hand, well she had one doe and buck just fine... when I checked her at 3:30 there was only a joint of a leg showing. I got both legs coming right only to find that the head was turn to far back for me to get. So a flying trip to the vets office was made. Once there the vet got that baby out (dead for sometime to our surprise), then another one who is alive, and finally a fifth one who had a heartbeat but didn't make it. Lightening is doing well considering all what she's gone through. The three live babies are in the house. Chunky Monkey the last one born alive as I'm calling him finally ate more than 12 hours after being born. He also has a set of lungs on him like you wouldn't believe!

Lavender is rather jealous of the new babies on the block, and tries her best to head butt or step on, Little bully. :)

On a sad and somber note. A friend of our family has passed away from a long fought battle with lung cancer. Please pray for her family during this extremely difficult time.We will be temporarily adding their little bottle buckling to our mix until things have calmed down with them. We can't do much, but are doing what we can. Sherman will fit in just fine with his half siblings.

Must dash, chore time will soon be here, and the 3 hours of sleep I managed to snap last night will be catching up with me soon. Like I told mom this morning when I was laughing, enjoy this, (me laughing) for this to shall pass. :)

What a day...

At present there is a little black and white Alpine doeling sleeping on my feet. She's had a very long and hard day. After all eating, sleeping, pooping and peeing all over the place, playing and napping is hard work for a growing girl. By the way, she will not take a bottle BUT will drink her milk if it's mixed with tea, raw sugar and is warm out of a bowl. She's not spoiled in the least! HONEST! She also likes carrots, Bugles, and tiny pieces of green olives. :)

In other goat happenings, we have several bagging up (GLUP). Vashtie seems to be doing some better, and is at least eating hay and drinking molasses water, we are treating her for myo toxins... And here I thought the goat learning curve was about over with. After losing Valencia to pregnancy toxemia, I'm a little on edge with all the other goaty girls. It's been a week that's for sure.

Today we went and looked at hay. I will leave it at this... we won't be getting it. Back to the hay search again... groan...

Time to hit the sack...

Yes I'm having a youtube spurt again. :)

Nice days...

We've had a couple of very nice days in these parts. The sun, we actually got to see the sun. It just felt wonderful.

Now if we could find hay, and not have to keep running trying to find a stable source. Just about the time we find one they either decide not to sell anymore OR run out.  As they are selling to others. It gets rather frustrating to say the least.

Nothing much has been going on here.  Thank goodness!

I heart...

these are a few of my favorite things...
When the snow falls, when the milk's low, when I've been bitten by a naughty goat...

I simply remember green things to come, and then I don't FEEL sooooo bad.

Lavender, Sunshine, Mud...

You know as I was thinking about the above title... it hit me,  the colors might just make a pretty quilt. Will have to think on this more.

Anyway, Lavy as she is known is being a very stubborn "kid" won't take a bottle, will only eat hay and drink water. At least she's staying hydrated. Every few hours I make her take some milk... she needs more that hay... a few bites of apple, and Frito's. :) Yes mom fed Lavy a Frito tonight and she liked it... HEY MIKEY, she liked it, she REALLY liked it! At least the salt is good for her right? One day soon I'm hoping she starts taking a bottle, and then gets moved out to the barn with the other goats. Hopefully before the other kids are born.

Today... the sun shone... melting the new snow, and thawing the ice. I'm of mixed emotions on this. The mud is HORRIBLE here. In a perfect world we wouldn't have any mud. But as it is... we have mud, more mud, frozen mud, partial frozen mud, or mud that's on top of frozen ground making walking very interesting. Some weird form of ballet comes to mind.

At least for the moment the sun felt good on my face, even if there was a cool breeze. Leaving me dreaming of summer days, filled with the sweet scents of the roses, lightening bugs floating here and there, ice tea, and something wonderful cooking on grill.

Webster...

"Willow & Webster"

This is Webbie when he was cute, and little, and sweet....

"Webbie"

The now two months older, juvenile delinquent, holy terror kitten.

He's nuts I tell you. He has this toy, it's a blue/silver ball with feathers on a elastic cord, tied to a stick that is the bee's knee's of kitty toys. This toy was lovingly put right above my pillow. Needless to say at about midnight last night Webster was playing between the pillows, pounced up and out to get the ball and landed on my face. :-/ You'll all be relieved to know he got the ball and wasn't hurt... trust me... I was tempted to do a little harm to Webbie...

Here's to a good nights rest with out a kitten, thumping, bumping, and making flying leaps on to my head.

New Babies

A new bull calf (whom I'm naming "Wished you were a heifer"), 3 new goats who have managed to get out more times than they have been in, and snow falling. Right now I'm hoping for a early spring, that Lavender eats well in the morning, an WYWH will even try to take his bottle (stubborn little $%%^#@@!), and so forth and so on.

Tomorrow I will post pictures, but they are on the P&S and it won't download onto my laptop. But it will on the desktop. I don't understand and I don't even try to anymore. Just go with the flow.

I've been reading blogs on the NAIS (so glad they are dropping it for now), HSUS (no comment), and family life in general. Right now I'm tired and just want to hit the hay... and maybe just maybe get some sleep.

All in all this month just has me in a funk. AND NO it's not for the normal reason that most single women can be depressed for this month. That doesn't bother me... other things do though... memories of years ago. Amazing how one person can affect your life. All while being lonely, depressed and insecure... not me another person. Some day I will go more into this. Right now... he's, they, them slash slash aren't worth the time.

Winter mix...

Does that not sound so much better than... snow, sleet, rain all mixed and coming down at once? Sigh... I firmly believe that the weather people do not know what is really going on out there until they look out a window. One says...Winter mix with no accumulations, another station says... 1-3 inches are possible. An inch here, an inch there... here a inch, there a inch, everywhere a inch inch... Old McDonald had a farm E I E I O.

On a more happy note: Tomorrow we pick up Betsy and baby and another little Alpine baby. *happy face* Don't you just love little baby goats?! Who doesn't?! Cute little, perky eared, white and black, nibble monsters :) And their girls... Pictures to come.

Must do chores... and I don't want to go out and do it. Oh well calves, goats, and cows need water and feed. Toodles from the corner of a semi warm, old rock house.

Good hay

It takes so little to make me a happy person. Good hay is one of them. Today we got some good hay... fall cut fescue, that's green. Sigh... it's a good feeling... I could cry. I know it's silly to cry over hay, but when it seems that people just want to always pull a fast one or not want to be stuck with bad hay at your expense, or sell you over priced hay. It's just a relief to have hay in the yard that you don't have to worry about your cows getting sick over.

All in all I'm fairly easy to keep happy, good hay, good milk prices, good cows, good sewing machine, good equipment, and life is good :) What more could I ask for... WELL I could go on, but why push it. lol

Dreaming of Spring days here... also... off subject, but when is someone going to get that glorious groundhog some sunglasses? :-/ Seed catalogs online and in paper form are my new best friends these days.

Monday...

Today is over with... THANK GOODNESS. It's been a busy one and thankfully it was a nice day out, chilly but nice. We went and looked at two goats and their kids, bought one of them and a doe kid. :) The older doe comes with a doe kid and we are getting another doe kid. They are SOOOOO sweet! But then what baby animal isn't cute? :)

Pictures to come after their arrival.

So nothing much new is happening around here. Snow is melting and making mud, hose has sprung a leak, we can't find anyone who will deliver any DRY wood so we have been about freezing. Thankfully a friend of the family gave us a little that is dry to get us by until we can hopefully find seasoned, dried, non GREEN, split, NON GREEN, burnable wood.

It's days when it's cold and your cold, and you have to look at a house that is going on the THIRD year of you not being able to live in it all because of greed and a STUPID contractor... not saying he is literally stupid, just stupid in the way of dang his sorry hide. How can ANY one do this to people? I just don't know. But after all he did say... Bad things happen to good people and it's a good thing you have that old house, and if you ever want or need to sell the farm I want first chance at it. Sigh... I'm not bitter about it... today it's just hard not to think about it. WHY, I don't know.

On to happier things...hay is coming tomorrow... woo hoo!!!!! :) Wish is was alfalfa but OH WELL... I'll be happy with anything at this point... as long as it's not rotten. :)

Nite all...
